Getting a Washington medical marijuana card near you — by telehealth
If you live anywhere in Washington — Lynnwood, Olympia, Spokane, Seattle, Tacoma, Bellingham, Yakima, or a rural community — you can be evaluated for a Washington medical cannabis authorization by telehealth, from home. A licensed Washington health care professional reviews your information on a secure video visit and, if you meet the state's qualifying-condition definition (RCW 69.51A.010), issues your authorization. You do not have to drive to a clinic.
This page is general program information sourced to the Washington State Department of Health and Washington state law. It is not a determination that you personally qualify, and it does not guarantee certification — eligibility is decided by an individual evaluation with a licensed health care professional.
How it works, wherever you are in Washington
- 1
Start online
Use the Get Started page to pick a time. There's no waiting room — you book the slot that works for you.
- 2
Verify your identity
You'll confirm you're a Washington resident with a government- or state-issued photo ID. (Washington's program is for state residents.)
- 3
Meet your provider by video
A Washington-licensed health care professional reviews your history and determines whether you meet the state's qualifying-condition definition under RCW 69.51A.010.
- 4
Receive your authorization
If the provider determines you qualify, they issue your Washington medical cannabis authorization on the state's official form — valid up to one year for an adult patient.
- 5
Get your recognition card (optional)
Take your authorization and photo ID to a medically endorsed cannabis retailer to be entered in the state's Medical Cannabis Authorization Database and issued a recognition card.
Do I have to live near a Green Wellness office?
No. Because the evaluation is by telehealth, your location inside Washington doesn't limit you — the same visit is available whether you're in a city listed below or anywhere else in the state. The cities below are simply the areas patients most often search from:
- Lynnwood / Snohomish County
- Olympia / Thurston County
- Spokane / Eastern Washington
- Seattle, Tacoma, Bellevue, Everett, Kent, Renton & greater Puget Sound — by telehealth
- Bellingham, Yakima, Tri-Cities, Vancouver, Wenatchee, Walla Walla, Pullman — by telehealth
If your city isn't listed, you can still be seen by telehealth as long as you're a Washington resident.
What does it cost?
Medical cannabis evaluations are generally self-pay — they're typically not billed to health insurance. Green Wellness publishes flat visit fees on the pricing page; separately, the state charges a small recognition-card fee at the medically endorsed retailer. There is no charge for "approval" because approval isn't something a clinic sells — the provider makes a clinical determination, and the fee is for the visit itself.
Frequently asked questions
Can I get a Washington medical marijuana card without leaving my city?
Yes — the evaluation is by secure video telehealth, so you can complete it from home anywhere in Washington. You don't need to travel to a specific city or office.
How fast can I be seen?
Most patients are able to book a same-day or next-day telehealth visit. Booking a time on the Get Started page reserves your slot.
Is the visit private?
Green Wellness is a HIPAA-covered telemedicine practice; your visit and records are handled under standard medical-privacy rules. This page does not collect or display any patient information.
What if the provider determines I don't qualify?
Whether you qualify is a clinical determination made by the licensed provider during your individual evaluation under state law. We don't advertise approval rates or guarantee a result — the determination is the provider's, based on your situation.
What conditions does Washington recognize?
Washington's qualifying conditions are set by state law, not by the clinic. See the full state-program list and the steps on our How to Qualify in Washington guide, sourced to RCW 69.51A.010 and the Washington Department of Health.
